December 2004
InfoWorld, a technology magazine published by InfoWorld Media Group, named the Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) in November 2004 as having one of the "100 Best IT Projects of the Year." The award was presented for a new data-storage system now smoothly backing up data for the 80 servers in DCBS´ divisions and 14 field offices.

The Information Management Division of DCBS was an early adopter of a new disk-to-disk-based data backup system that is faster and cheaper than its old tape backup system. The new system slashes backup time from 24 hours to six hours, provides nearly instantaneous restores, and is much more reliable than the old system. In addition, it takes field-office personnel out of the data-backup loop, for greater efficiency.
