Enterprise Security
Project Goal: Partner with Cisco to implement a multi-layered solution to appropriately protect individual servers and the entire network.
Network Infrastructure Implementation
Project Goal: Replace old network devices that are in a problem state and those without support encryption devices. The SDC Network Team assumes the management of all previously non-standard network devices.
McData/Cisco SAN Migration
Project Goal: Replace the existing McData Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure and fiber cabling with new Cisco SAN infrastructure and expanded cabling.
zSeries Consolidation
Project Goal: Consolidate the ODOT z890 mainframe and the DAS/DHS z990 mainframe onto one IBM zSeries z10 mainframe. This will be achieved by using a combination of new components and components from the z990 to upgrade to a z10.
UNIX Consolidation
Project Goal: Move all agency applications, databases, web servers, utilities and file data hosted on various UNIX platforms over to a common AIX p595 hardware and operating system platform. The old hardware will then be decomissoned Doing so allows the SDC to save on power consumption, software costs, hardware maintenance costs, and provide added capacity that is needed to support agencies using the pSeries system.
iSeries Consolidation
Project Goal: Update the existing iSeries operating systems and associated hardware at the SDC by consolidating them onto a single IBM P6 Power System (model 595) platform. These IBM systems will be shared between both iSeries and pSeries LPARs which further consolidates the hardware platforms.
TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) Implementation and Data Migration
Project Goal: complete the migration of data for state agencies not currently utilizing the IBM central tape library (ATL) as well as the deployment of TSM. TSM supports data migration and ongoing maintenance of centralized storage/back-up services.
Nagios Implementation (formerly known as Enterprise Monitoring)
Project Goal: Gather the SDC business needs for monitoring the major assets (server, network and mainframe) of the SDC and implement the Nagios monitoring tool to meet the defined needs.
TADDM/TLCM Implementation
Project Goal: Configure and deploy both the Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager (TADDM) and Tivoli License Compliancy Manager (TLCM) packages to the SDC environment. TADDM and TLCM will be used by the SDC to discover, monitor and support applications and software. This knowledgebase will provide information to the SDC Disaster Recovery (DR) plan.
